Victim families of Maur bomb blast, which took place on January 31, 2017, supported by the Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), on Friday issued an ultimatum to the state government to arrest all culprits by March 8, otherwise, they would launch a ‘Bargari-like agitation’. They declared that the complete strategy would be chalked out during a party’s congregation scheduled to take place on February 12. Notably, seven persons including five children were killed in the blast, which took place at Maur mandi in Bathinda district, just four day ahead of the Assembly elections. The state police, while investigating the case, had indicted three followers of Sacha Sauda sect as prime accused. “It is surprising that despite identifying all accused, police have not yet arrested any of them.
The way dera followers are being protected, it clearly signifies that the government doesn’t want to annoy the dera followers as the Lok Sabha polls are just a few weeks away,” claimed Gursewak Singh Jawaharke, leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar). The SAD (A) leaders also released a letter issued from the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda, which stated that the state couldn’t give jobs on compassionate grounds to the bereaved family members of all, as five of the killed were minor. Those killed in the blast were identified as Varkha Rani (7), Ankush Singla (11), Ripandeep Singh (10), Saurav Singla (12), Japsimran Singh (15), Ankush Kumar and Harpal Singh Pali.
