Guru Nanak Jayanti 2017: Hundreds of Sikh devotees assembled at Gurudwara Sahib, Secunderabad, to take part in Nagar Kirtan, which was taken out from the Gurudwara afternoon as part of Parkash Utsav of 548th birthday celebration of Guru Nanak Dev, founder of Sikh religion.As part of the Guru Purab celebrations, the procession was taken out with pomp and grandeur. As the procession moved through the streets of the city more devotees joined in. Festive fever had gripped this part of the city, as roads were closed and traffic was being diverted as the proceedings went on.Continuous displays of martial arts, Shabad Kirtan along with the display of Punj Pyaareas, and Nishan Sahib, the religious flag bearers on the motorcycles lead the procession around the city. Kids as well as adults adorned the Kesari Patkas and reveled in the glory of the celebrations.The proceedings went on smoothly with traffic police deployed at various check points and police vehicles escorting the chariots and the trucks involved with the Nagar Kirtan. The procession concluded with an exclusive 15-minute Gatka performance along with the other martial arts display involving the kirpans and swords, which was followed by the Guru ka Langar back at the Gurudwara Sahib.
