Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar on Thursday said that SGPC was ready to take control of Gurdwaras in Pakistan.
Talking to media persons at Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, Badungar said that there were reports that some religious places in Pakistan were not in good condition, so SGPC was ready to extend any type of help.
On the statement of former SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar that Badungar should appoint competent persons on suitable places in SGPC, Badungar said he has great respect of Makkar, who served on this post for the period of 11 years and said that Makkar should not issue such statements which create confusion in the public. He added that after taking over as SGPC president, he was now utilising services of competent authorities.
On the visit of Sikh Jathas in Pakstan, Badungar said SGPC was sending Jathas to Pakistan from a long time. This time again, the Jatha will visit Pakistan, even as relations between both the countries were not cordial.
He said SGPC was inviting applications from pilgrims from time to time who wanted to pay obeisance in Gurdwaras in Pakistan. He said after scrutiny by Indian government agencies, Visa would be granted to pilgrims.
