Steve Smith has announced his engagement to his partner of five years, Dani Willis. The Australian cricket captain proposed to the law student during a New York holiday on Wednesday.Smith, 28, shared a picture of the couple standing on New York’s Top of the Rock observation deck to his Instagram account on Thursday morning.
“She’s always there for me when I’m around. She always gives me good advice, and tells me the truth. It’s nice that you have some honest feedback to come home to all the time. She’s been terrific for me over the last few years.”The couple sparked engagement rumours in January when Willis, who is studying a combined commerce/law degree at Sydney’s Macquarie University, wore a diamond ring on her left hand down the Allan Border Medal red carpet. However, she was quick to clarify that she was not due to be wed, telling the Daily Telegraph the ring was on loan and it “just looked best on this finger”.After spending the best part of this year in India, captaining the Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League, Smith is enjoying a whirlwind overseas holiday with Willis.Over the past fortnight, the couple have shared travel snaps from their adventures in London and Monte Carlo. They flew to the US last week.
