Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni were involved in a 118-run stand for the sixth wicket to bail India out of trouble and script a memorable win over Australia in the first ODI at Chennai’s iconic Chepauk. The second ODI of the five-match series will be played at the Eden Gardens Kolkata on Thursday. MS Dhoni caught up on some sleep while Hardik Pandya, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and the rest of the Indian team appeared relaxed at the Chennai airport en route Kolkata. With such a short turnover time between matches, the Indian and Australian teams were headed out to Kolkata the morning after India fought back from 11/3 to win a rain-truncated match by 26 run (DLS). This was India’s seventh successive ODI win. Since the disappointing Champions Trophy final defeat to Pakistan, India have won nine out of their 10 completed ODIs.Undoubtedly, the Indian team is in supreme form. They have been unbeatable in Test cricket, having lost only one match since the opening Test defeat to Sri Lanka more than two years ago. India will probably rest for a while once they land in Kolkata before sparing no effort to gear up for the second ODI against Australia, who would be equally keen to bounce back in the series.
