Aaron Rodgers surgery: Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will require surgery on his broken collarbone. Rodgers was injured when Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr drove him to the turf as he was rolling out. With Rodgers sidelined for the remainder of the game, the Packers lost 23-10 to the Vikings.“Aaron Rodgers suffered a significant injury in the game,” McCarthy said. “It will require surgery. He’ll be out a minimum of a significant amount of time. Potentially, his season can be over. He’ll have surgery here in the near future. After we see how that goes, focus on getting better and healthy — that’s all that really matters right now.”Brett Hundley came in for Rodgers on Sunday and was 18 of 33 for 157 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. The only other quarterback on the roster is Joe Callahan, who was promoted from the practice squad on Monday. Rodgers missed seven starts in 2013 when he broke his left collarbone. This time he is expected to be out longer because it’s his throwing shoulder. Rodgers did not have surgery four years ago.Hundley threw one touchdown pass and three interceptions in relief of Rodgers. Two of the interceptions came on deflected passes. The former fifth-round pick out of? UCLA?played well in his rookie preseason in 2015, when he led the league in exhibition passing yards while throwing seven touchdown passes and one interception. We need to play better as a football team.”McCarthy stopped short of saying definitively that Rodgers’ season is over, but surgery likely means a lengthy rehab that would wipe out the rest of 2017. The quarterback was not placed on injured reserve on Monday. If Rodgers goes on IR, he would be out a minimum of eight weeks.
