Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, on Thursday, asked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh why he did not start the accountability process from home by promising to quit as CM in the event of an impending and humiliating Congress defeat from Patiala constituency. Sukhbir was addressing the public and workers’ meetings at Seeto Guno, Abohar and Balluana, on Thursday.
The SAD chief said the Congress in Punjab was headed for its worst defeat in recent history.Badal said panic has gripped Congress Bathinda candidate Raja Warring who alleged that “the state administration is still obeying only the Akalis. This statement is an open admission that the present rulers have no grip over the administration of the state.”
He said all welfare schemes started by the SAD- BJP government had been stopped by the present regime. “Atta daal, pensions, shaguns, SC scholarships, schemes for free treatment up to Rs 50,000 and free-accidental death insurance of Rs 5 lakh schemes have either been discontinued or were not implemented. He said most rural Suvidha centres, 800 schools and schools for the poor meritorious, public dispensaries for free and subsidised medicine had been shut down.Sportsmen are being neglected as free-kits to players have been stopped. He highlighted plight of players of the World Kabaddi Cup.
