Justice Ranjit Singh Commission, which is investigating the incidents of brawl and other irregularities in Punjab has issued summons to 40 police officers and employees of the state to get involved in the investigation. This commission was made by the Captain Amarinder Singh government in the state on April 14. The government, however, accepted the Justice Jaura Singh Commission report by the previous Badal government. The commission is going to summon those who were victims in these incidents.
Police action was taking place during the demonstration of the two sacred creeds of the Sikh Panth near Kotkapura, in which two Sikh brothers died. Apart from this, there were incidents of irregularities of Shrimad Bhagwad Geeta and Holy Quran Sharif. A previous government of the Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal, formed the Jora Singh Commission for the investigation of this matter. But after the change of government, Jora Singh commission report was considered inadequate and it was rejected. It was said that in the Jora Singh Commission report, nothing was said about the cause of the incident and the critically endangered people. This case was also heard in the Vidhan Sabha.The Captain Amarinder Singh government had set up a commission headed by Justice Ranjit Singh for a thorough probe into the matter. This commission has been given six months time to investigate. The High Court’s retired Justice, Ranjit Singh is also investigating the role of police officers in this case. In the first phase, 40 policemen and employees related to these incidents of Punjab Police have been summoned to appear in the investigation.
