Amarpreet Singh Makkar, Ludhiana: Toll plazas Panipat Jalandhar Highway hiked. On the way to Jalandhar from Delhi or vice verse, one have to shell out more bucks as the toll rates have been hiked at three toll plazas on stretch on Panipat to Jalandhar with effect from September 1. In spite of the project of six laning at National Highway from Panipat to Jalandhar was hanging fire for the completition the toll rates has been revised again. The toll rates were hiked from Rs four to Rs 15 for the different categories of the vehicles.The Company involved in the six laning of National highway claimed that the more than 90 percent of the project has been done which was one of the reasons for the revision of rates. Contrary to the claims of company the ground reality has something different to say as several flyovers, underpass, drainage system and installation of lights are still pending. The commuters travelling by car towards Jalandhar have to pay Rs 120 for a one-way passage at the Ladhowal toll plaza. For multiple journeys, they will have to shell out Rs 180 on same toll plazas. Toll plazas Panipat Jalandhar Highway hiked.Gurvinder Singh a private contractor who crossed toll plaza daily said they have to pay toll tax for inconvenience as most of the time the traffic remain blocked and no lights has been installed which led to road accidents during night time. Another commuter Deepika said the National Highway drive commuters up the wall but the company hiked the toll rates five times in last few years which is a open loot of the commuters.
