EC to keep any eye on social media accounts of candidates

Ludhiana: Acting tough, the Election Commission will take action against the supporters of candidates for issuing advertisements in media without any authority. The election commission has observed that many times the candidates avoid giving advertisements in media directly to save expenditure but their supporters issue advertisements and seek votes for the candidates. This time the election commission will book supporters if thy issue advertisement without authority.
District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Aggarwal said that all the arrangements were completed for the smooth, free and fair elections. They have received rules and regulations from election Commission of India and will inform about the same to political parties and candidates. He further said that if the supporters of candidates will print posters, issue advertisements or campaign in any manner then the expenditure would be included in the account of candidate. However, the candidate refused issuing advertisements through his supporters. In such circumstances they will book the supporter of candidate for issuing advertisements without authority of candidate. Moreover, the candidates have to get the approval of content of advertisements from MCMC committee before publishing and telecasting. The election commission will also keep an eye on the social media accounts of candidates.
DC said that they have issued directions to owners of Print Press that they should take authority letter from the persons giving order of printing material of candidates. He said that they have done rounds of meetings with owner of Printing Press, cable operators and issued directions regarding election code of conduct.
DC further said that the election commission has fixed 70 lakh limit for the candidate and till the candidate was not announced the expenditure would be added in the account of political party. He said that they have fixed the rates of everything used in election campaigning. He informed that single window system has been introduced for all the permissions related to elections. Moreover, a complaint number 1950 has been launched for the complaints.
