Ferozepur: Ferozepur police on Friday registered a case against five police employees for taking bribe of mere Rs 50 under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 under Sections 7/13/(2) at Sadar Police Station. Briefing about the case, ASI Ashwani Kumar said that complainant Kuldip Singh, of Marian Wala Khurd village mentioned in his complaint that he had been engaged to carry the straw from Bahmani Wala village in Jalalabad sub division to Santokhgarh of Himachal Pardesh by truck No. PB05A-0872.
When he was on the way, the police party had put up a check-post near Khai Feme ki village. There was a very long queue of the vehicles waiting for checking. On his turn, when he tried to go after checking, he had been stopped by other policemen and demanded some money. He had to pay Rs 50 and then allowed to go on. The police have registered a case against head constable Tajinder Singh, PHG Tarsem Singh, PHG Mangat Ram, PHG Balkar Singh and PHG Kulwant Singh. The police have started an investigation.
