Kapurthala: A granthi of a gurudwara of village Sikri in Begowal, Kapurthala was arrested for killing a 15-year-old girl after attempting rape with her, on Monday. The accused granthi has been identified as Bhupinder Singh residing inside the Gurudwara of Sikri.
While revealing the incident, SSP Kapurthala, Rajinder Singh said that the victim went to gurudwara to pay obeisance on Sunday morning and since then she did not turn up home. He added that following that the family of the victim informed the police. During the preliminary investigation the fingers raised at gurudwara staff as the victim used to visit the temple in routine.
SSP said that following the line of suspect, the police team scrutinized the CCTV camera footage installed inside the Gurudwara that clearly shows the Gramthi killing the girl. He added that CCTV reveals that the accused granthi tried to rape the girl when she resisted, the accused slit her throat with knife. During the interrogation the accused confessed the crime and said that he asked the victim to clean up a room inside quoted that as ‘Sewa’.
The accused dragged her in another room where tried to rape her, but remain unsuccessful. While making the confession, the accused said that despite getting strangled she survived that pushes him to kill her with knife. The police have registered the case under section 302(Murder) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) IPC.
