ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤਾਰਾ ॥ ਸਹਜਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਅੰਕੁਰੁ ਭਲੋ ਹਮਾਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥ ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਕਾਢਿ ਲੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਸੰਕਟ ਦੁਆਰਾ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਨਿ ਗਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀ ਪੁਨਹ ਪੁਨਹ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਾ ॥੨॥੯॥੨੮॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ) ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਅੰਗੂਰ ਫੁੱਟ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਦਾ ਉਰਲਾ ਪਾਰਲਾ ਬੰਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਭ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਉਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸਦਾ) ਹੱਥ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਵਿਹੁਲੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਕੱਢ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ) ਵੱਡੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਫਾਹੀਆਂ ਕੱਟੀਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕਸ਼ਟਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ਾ ਮੁੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਣਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ) ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।੯।੨੭।

Todee, Fifth Mehl: In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, I contemplate the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. I am in peaceful poise and bliss, day and night; the seed of my destiny has sprouted. ||Pause|| I have met the True Guru, by great good fortune; He has no end or limitation. Taking His humble servant by the hand, He pulls him out of the poisonous world-ocean. ||1|| Birth and death are ended for me, by the Word of the Guru’s Teachings; I shall no longer pass through the door of pain and suffering. ਵਡੇ ਵਡੇ ਰਾਜਨ ਅਰੁ ਭੂਮਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨ ਨ ਬੂਝੀ ॥ ਲਪਟਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਤੇ ਲੋਚਨ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਸੂਝੀ ॥੧॥ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਨ ਹੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਈਧਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਹਾ ਅਘਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਦਿਨੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਕਰਤ ਭੋਜਨ ਬਹੁ ਬਿੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਮਿਟੈ ਨ ਭੂਖਾ ॥ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁਆਨ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਟਾ ਘੋਖਾ ॥੨॥ ਕਾਮਵੰਤ ਕਾਮੀ ਬਹੁ ਨਾਰੀ ਪਰ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਜੋਹ ਨ ਚੂਕੈ ॥ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਕਰੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਪੈ ਸੋਗ ਲੋਭ ਮਹਿ ਸੂਕੈ ॥੩॥ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਪਾਰ ਅਮੋਲਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ ਸੂਖੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਆਨੰਦੁ ਸੰਤਨ ਕੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੬॥

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ) ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਹਨ, ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਜ਼ਿਮੀਦਾਰ ਹਨ, (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ। ਉਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕੌਤਕਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਬੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਮਾਇਆ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ॥੧॥ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਾਇਆ (ਦੇ ਮੋਹ) ਵਿਚ (ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਕਿਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅੱਗ ਬਾਲਣ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਜਦੀ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਰੱਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ। (ਸੁਆਦਲੇ ਖਾਣਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕੁੱਤੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਦੌੜ-ਭੱਜ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਚਾਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਭਾਲਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਾਮ-ਵੱਸ ਹੋਏ ਵਿਸ਼ਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀਆਂ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਕਿਤਨੀਆਂ ਹੀ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਣ, ਪਰਾਏ ਘਰ ਵਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਮੰਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਦੀ। ਉਹ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ (ਵਿਸ਼ੇ-ਪਾਪ) ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਹੈ। ਸੋ, ਇਸ ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਵਿਚ ਅਤੇ ਪਛੁਤਾਵੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੁੱਕਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਇਕ ਐਸਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਤੇ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਇਸ ਨਾਮ-ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਬਣੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਸੁਖ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ! ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੀ ਜਾਣ-ਪਛਾਣ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

The desires of the greatest of the great kings and landlords cannot be satisfied. They remain engrossed in Maya, intoxicated with the pleasures of their wealth; their eyes see nothing else at all. ||1|| No one has ever found satisfaction in sin and corruption. The flame is not satisfied by more fuel; how can one be satisfied without the Lord ? || Pause || Day after day, he eats his meals with many different foods, but his hunger is not eradicated. He runs around like a dog, searching in the four directions. ||2|| The lustful, lecherous man desires many women, and he never stops peeking into the homes of others. Day after day, he commits adultery again and again, and then he regrets his actions; he wastes away in misery and greed. ||3|| The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is incomparable and priceless; it is the treasure of Ambrosial Nectar. The Saints abide in peace, poise and bliss; O Nanak Ji, through the Guru, this is known. ||4||6||
