Ludhiana: The clash between two groups over the issue of post of president of Commission Agent Association claimed the life of 23-year-old youth at New Vegetable Market, near Salem Tabri on early morning of Tuesday. As many as six rounds of firing took place and the victim sustained five bullet injuries which led to his death. The victim was identified as Avi Samlok (23). He was rushed to Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where he succumbed to injuries. The Basti Jodhewal police have registered a case against eight persons for murder.
According to information, the president of Commission Agent Association Somnath Fauji and Roobal Samlok, brother of deceased have at loggerheads over the post of president of the association. Two days ago, men of Somnath Fauji and Roobal entered in scuffle but the clash was avoided. The insiders told that Roobal was campaigning for the post of president and allegedly started collecting commission from vendors which irked Somnath. On Tuesday morning, aides of Somnath allegedly entered in scuffle with Roobal at market and the clash took ugly shape.
An eyewitness told that the aides of Roobal held Attinder hostage and thrashed him. Later Inderjit, brother of Attinder turned there and entered in arguments with Avi, brother of Roobal. At that time Roobal was inside his shop. In the meantime, Inderjeet allegedly first opened fire in air and then fired five gunshots on Avi leaving him dead. Both the groups of Somnath Fauji and Roobal were close to a senior leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).On being informed, the police force led by Police Commissioner Jatinder Singh Aulakh reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case.
The police have registered case against Somnath Fauji, Rajan, Pala, Inderjit, Nikka, Attinder and two others. Sources said that two persons were detained by police. Meanwhile the deceased Avi Savlok was cremated in the evening after the post mortem was conducted at civil hospital.
