Ludhiana: District Level Philatelic exhibition was organised by the Punjab postal department along with Philatelic Club of Ludhiana members with full pomp and show on Monday here. Exhibition was inaugurated by PK Swain, Chief Postmaster
General Punjab and Chandigarh. Aabraham G Thomas Director CMC & H Ludhiana, Surinder Singh Namdhari, President Vishav Namdhari Sangat Ludhiana and Additional Director Communication, PAU Ludhiana were the guests of honour on this occasion.
Around 50 prominent philatelists of city actively participated and displayed their rare collection of stamps which was issued by the Postal department of not only India but across the Globe.
This philatelic exhibition exhibited maximum number of frames having stamps depicting different themes regarding the historical monuments, freedom fighters, inspiration personalities across the world, culture, science and bio-diversity, were put on display. Local schools authorities were also showing keen interest in exhibition and presented their creative stamps.
First postal stamp of world and India becomes the center of attraction among the others in exhibition as while interaction with some of members of club of philatelic Ludhiana, Mukesh Malhotra, they have showed the first postage stamp of the world named “BLACK PENNY” which was came into consideration on May 6, 1840 during the period of British rule, in India, commission of Sind has introduced “Scinde Dawks” stamp as token and price of stamp is half
Totally new Guru Gobind Singh 350Birth Anniversary stamps were purchased by senior citizens and youngsters as they didn’t know that government has released these types of stamps. Postage Stamp on Shaheed Bhagat Singh was mostly purchased by the students of the schools who had come to attend this exhibition said the vendors at exhibition. A renowed singer Kishore Kumar stamps were also the first choice for the youth. On this occasion definite stamps were present with the name of smart city, Punjab Agriculture University, Baba Ram Singh Kuka, Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria by Ludhiana postal department.
A frame installer at Exhibition named Nishie Mani (Division Secretary of Bharati Postal Employees Union) said, this years’ exhibition is too large as compared to recent exhibition.
In Ludhiana, first exhibition was held on November 14, 2006 after following that series of exhibition was kicked-off but this is the first time when 100 plus frames have been installed by the prominent philatelists of city.
