Samrala: Both Samrala SHO Davinder Pal Singh and one Jagdev Singh were produced in a local court on Saturday and the court sent both of them to 14 days judicial custody.
Samrala SHO Davinder Pal Singh was arrested for allegedly accepting bribe for hushing up a narcotics smuggling case. The brine money of Rs 1.70 lakh was also recovered from his person. Jagdev Singh was also arrested for allegedly playing the role of middle-man in this deal. The police had recovered Rs 50,000 from Jagdev Singh.
It may be mentioned here that an FIR was registered against Baljit Singh, a resident of Bagli Kalan on May 3, 2016 at the Samrala Police Station. The police had seized 2kg 700 gm of opium and 75 kg poppy husk from him. Baljit Singh’s wife had complained to the SSP that Jagdev Singh had taken an amount of Rs.3.25 lakh for hushing up the matter and clearing Baljit’s name from the case. After registering a case against Jagdev Singh he was arrested. Jagdev Singh later had confessed his crime and said that he had paid Rs 1.70 lakh to Samrala SHO Davinder Pal Singh.
