Amritsar: Punjab Police, while looking for the attackers of senior RSS leader retired Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja, busted a terrorist module by arresting three militants of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) on Thursday. Police claimed that they were planning to create disturbance in the state in view of coming Independence Day celebrations. Talking to media persons here, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Counter Intelligence, Punjab, M F Farooqui said the strenuous efforts of Counter Intelligence, Amritsar, bore fruit when they received secret information that Gurpal Singh alias Pala of Jalalpur Kalan, Jalandhar, Major Singh, resident of Dajjar, Karnal, Haryana, presently at Dera Gurdwara Guruana Sahib, Veronangal village, Amritsar and Rachhpal Singh, resident of Rakh Ameer, Jalalabad, Fazilka, presently at Khudda Ali Sher, Chandigarh, were planning to carry out anti-national disruptive activities at a very large scale.
Farooqui said that Gurpal Singh was on Thursday going to meet someone at Umranangal Modh on Amritsar-Jalandhar road. A specially constituted police party reached the said spot and carried out a discreet search operation. Gurpal Singh was nabbed at Umranangal Modh with his black coloured Pulsar motorcycle. Police have recovered one pistol along with magazine and six cartridges. A case under Sections 25, 54, 59 of Arms Act and 17, 18, 20 of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act was registered at the State Special Operation Cell police station, Amritsar.
GURPAL LED POLICE TO NAB TWO OTHER TERRORISTS
During the preliminary interrogation, Gurpal revealed that he received the recovered pistol and cartridges from Major Singh, who was acting as a key conspirator in this episode. Accordingly, a special team was constituted to arrest Major Singh, who was finally apprehended from Vairo Nangal village area on Mehta-Batala road and one .30 bore pistol along with 10 live cartridges was recovered from his possession. “During interrogation Major Singh revealed that he, Gurpal Singh and Rachhpal Singh were working at the behest of wanted terrorists Jagdish Singh alias Bhoora based in Belgium, Kuldeep Singh and Jasbir Singh alias Jassi, both from England. It is also revealed that Jagdish Singh was in touch with Pakistan based hardcore wanted terrorist Ranjit Singh and other members of Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF),” said Farooqui.
Acting on the revelation made by Major Singh, the team of Counter Intelligence arrested Rachhpal Singh. Further investigation is being conducted and several teams have been constituted to unearth the complete nexus and network of Gurpal Singh, Major Singh and Rachhpal Singh.
