Ludhiana: Tension prevailed in Housing Board Colony flats on the Pakhowal road after the female domestic helper was found dead in the compound of the flats. Initially, the police cited the natural death but later murder case was registered against father-son duo in this context. The death of 16-year-old domestic helper sparks protest as several Dalit leaders reached the spot in protest against the brutal killing of minor girl (16).
The deceased has been identified and she was domestic helper in the house of retired manager of an insurance company, NK Tangri and his son Sachin Tangri. Sensing the situation heavy police force was deployed on the spot and the officials pacified the protestors. Later, the body was sent at civil hospital for postmortem. According to information, the body was found in the compound of the flats.
On being informed, the SBS Nagar Police reached the spot and initiated investigation in the case. The mother of the deceased alleged that her daughter was murdered by the Tangri family. A slipper of the victim was found from the fourth floor of the building and another slipper was in the foot of victim.
The hairs of victim were found from the lift. One arm and leg of the victim was also fractured and several injury marks were spotted on the body, alleged the mother of deceased. Following the investigation, the police suspected that the accused have killed the victim on the fourth floor and later dragged her body on the ground floor in lift.
The police are also scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the entry point of the colony and also in flats. Late in the evening, the police have registered case under Sections 302 (Murder) and 120-B (Conspiracy) of the IPC against the accused. Sources confirmed that the police have arrested the accused.
