Lacking quality medical facilities, once again three intellectually disabled children from Sukhjit Ashram have been hospitali/sed after they faced severe health issues.
According to information, three children Bunty (18), Sandeep (17) and Pooja (13) were rushed to the nearby hospital on on Friday night due to their ill-health as Bunty was constantly vomting. Sandeep was suffering from jaundice while Pooja was having epileptic attack.
The alleged negligence on part Sukhjit Ashram Staff members has landed three kids in hospital. The doctor treating these children at Civil Hospital, Kapurthala pointed out that these children had fallen ill due to an improper diet and over-eating.
Notably, in the recent past, two children died and 30 children of Sukhjit Ashram were hospitalised after they consumed unhygenic food and following this tragic incident, Kaputhala DC ordered asked SDM, Kapurthala Mandeep Kaur who recommended the appointment of permanent doctors in the ashram but no further step was taken in this matter.
SMO, Kapurthala said that these children faced health problems due to over-eating. He said that now they are undergoing proper treatment and very soon they will be discharged from the hospital. District Programme Officer, Kapurthala Sukhdeep Kaur Multani admitted that still ashram sans medical facility but this time these children were immediately rushed to hospital after they told the staff of their health problem which is a routine matter, he added.
