Ludhiana: On the first day of police recruitment drive in Ludhiana, as many as 349 aspirants undergo dope test and only 4 were failed in test.
Giving relaxation, the police department has given second chance to the aspirants. As many as 23,000 aspirants were shortlisted for the recruitment and on first day 400 aspirants were called, out of which 349 appeared at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). After clearing the dope test the physical test of candidates were conducted and out of 349, 95 passed the test.
The police have also introduced biometric system to keep transparency in the process for the first time.
The senior police officials, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhruman Nimbale was present and supervising the recruitment process.
Official spokesperson of Ludhiana police told that 95 candidates have cleared the test and others were disqualified as they failed to clear physical test due to short height and long jump.
The candidates failed dope test will be given another chance for dope test, added Police Spokesperson.
A team of medical experts including two doctors and 8 lab technicians is conducting dope tests by taking urine samples of the aspirants.
The kit used for dope test detects five types of narcotics including heroin, opium, poppy husk and performance enhancing drugs, said police official.
Under the recruitment process, the police will screen 400 to 600 aspirants daily. After passing dope test and physical test, the candidates will be issued admit card and appear in written examination. Athletics coaches from Punjab Agriculture University and Sports Department are helping police in conducting tests.
