Ludhiana: Excise and Taxation Department has conducted the raid at the local railway station where a total of 43 parcels without bills were seized by the department officers. These parcels had arrived out of Punjab.
According to the officers, worth of the seized products is still being counted. Different products in the parcels, include ladies shoes, bangles, purses, suits, mobile accessories such as charger, data cable and many other products.
While contacted, Divisional Traffic Manager, SS Bhatia said, “Railway officers have given full cooperation during the raid conducted in the premises. Chief Parcel Officer of the Railways has given all the details of the parcels which arrived here on Wednesday.”
Avtar Singh Kang, Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer said, “We have seized the consignment without bill. According to the VAT Act 2005, parcels without bills would be charged 50 percent penalty according to the amount of the parcel seized.”
