Mohali: A new initiative of Govt. named “Pradhan Mantri Surkshit Matritva Abhiyan”(PMSMA), proving to be very helpful for the poor & needy pregnant women of the district. Stating this Deputy Commissioner Mohali, D S Mangat said that the scheme was launched on June 9, 2016 with an objective to boost health care facilities for the pregnant women, especially the poor.
Under the scheme PMSMA, special camp is organized on 9th of every month at all PHCs & CHC centers including all civil hospitals in the district to provide free health
checkup & required treatment to ensure quality antenatal care to the pregnant ladies.
During this requisite tests are also being conducted free of cost.
He further said that besides Govt. hospitals all private hospitals have also been instructed to conduct free medical checkup & tests of pregnant ladies besides performing deliveries once in a month (i.e. 9th of every month).
He said that since the scheme initiation in June till October, approximate 4670 pregnant ladies got benefited under this scheme.
Elaborating in detail Civil Surgeon Dr. Ranjit Kaur Guru said that under this scheme during special camps being organized at all civil hospital, PHC and CHC centers, 879 pregnant women got benefited during June, 911 women got benefited in the month of July, 914 women during August and 1032 women benefited during September month and during the month of October 916 women got benefited with the free checkups & treatments under the scheme.
She urged that poor and needy pregnant ladies should approach to nearby civil hospital and should take benefits from the schemes initiated by Government.
