Mohali: Five BJP Councillors wrote a letter to Mohali Mayor Kulwant Singh for moving no-confidence motion against Senior Deputy Mayor Rishav Jain. The letter was signed by all five BJP coucillers.They have demanded that as the Senior Deputy Mayor’s party does not have majority in the House, he shpuld be removed immediately from the post.
It has to be mentioned that recently Mayor Kulwant Singh along with councillors of Azad group had re-joined the Shiromani Akali Dal. In the MC house, the Azad group and Congress councillors were in collision. even after Kulwant Singh’s joining SAD but Senior Deputy Mayor of Congress Rishav Jain is still holding the post. It is now indigestible for BJP councillors as they want Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor should be from the BJP councillors. It is mentioned that MLA Balbir Sidhu was not present in the House on Friday.
Meanwhile, the House meeting of MC Mohali on Friday ended in a positive atmosphere. All the agendas were passed by all councillors. The councillors had raised the issues related to their wards. Paramjit Singh Kahlon welcomed Mayor Kulwant Singh and the Azad group councillors in Akali Dal and in the House. KS bedi had raised the issues of stray dogs in Mohali. Sukhdev Singh Patwari raised the issue of short water supply in the city.
Present ‘Gaushala’ capacity is of 600 cattle and there are presently more than 750 cattle. Mayor announced that soon new ‘Gaushala’ would come up in the city with a capacity of 1500. Tender will be called soon.On the issue of encroachments, the Mayor instructed the officials to identify the encroachers and take legal action against them.Councillors in a combined way said in the House that cleanliness in Mohali was not up to mark.
