Jalandhar: Punjab Governor V P Singh Badnore on Friday paid a visit to Pushpa Gujaral Nari Niketan in Jalandhar and urged the youth to excel in skill development programmes and earn livelihood.
The governor accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujaral said that the present time required the youth to under go skilled training, which could provide jobs. Governor Badnore addressed the students during his visit at Nari Niketan, where he also inspected various programmes being run by the all women institution.
Addressing the students, the Punjab Governor visited stitching centre and computer training classes being run on Nari Niketan premises. “Apart from education, the youth should focus on vocational cum skill development training in the present times”, he said.
Earlier, Naresh Gujaral said that post Indo-Pak partition, his family set up the Pushpa Gujaral Nari Niketan Trust for women in Jalandhar. “At present as many as 700 girls were getting education at the school being run by the trust.”
Prominent among those present on this occasion were former Lt Governor of Puducherry Iqbal Singh, Nakodar MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala, KD Bhandari, BJP leader Mahinder Bhagat and others.
