Ludhiana: 67th Van Mahautsav was celebrated at Shaheed-E-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls School, Bharat Nagar on Tuesday.
More than 150 saplings were planted on the occasion.
District and Sessions Judge Karamjit Singh Kang said that for making our environment greener and pollution free, all of us should plant more trees. He said that felling of a large number of trees globally and increase in pollution levels have led to imbalance in our weather which is also affecting our day to day life.
He was also accompanied by Rajesh Bhagat, CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority. More than 150 tree saplings were planted on the occasion.
Karamjit Singh Kang said that these days, Ludhiana is amongst one of the most polluted cities of the country and that is why, the District Administration, social organisations and school students have started this tree plantation drive in the district. He said that by planting more and more trees, it would help in reducing pollution levels and would also make our environment greener. He also appreciated the efforts of social organisations and school children, who are associated with this drive.
He urged the residents to plant atleast one tree each and celebrate Van Mahotsav same like we celebrate our other festivals.
Ashok Pal Batra, ADJ, Bishan Saroop, ADJ, Jaspal Verma, ADJ, Sandeep Singh Bajwa, ADJ, Suresh Kumar Goyal, ACJM, SS Dhaliwal, ADJ and several others were present.
