Chandigarh: The historical moment of 13th April 1919 in Jallianwala Bagh where Reginald Edward Harry Dyer killed hundreds of unidentified Freedom Fighters with his successful plotting as a General. After 98 years of the incident, the Punjab government has given the identification to Jallainwala Bagh martyrs by mentioning their names on the statue installed at the incident spot in Amritsar. The development has come to fore under the policy of Beautification of Punjab Government, whereas it has been learnt that the concerned department will receive the separate funds to maintain the memory of Jallianwala Bagh.
An NGO moved an application to write the names of the martyrs with golden words and the plea had travelled from Punjab chief minister’s table to Union Home Minister that has been approved by the centre government. Following the directions of Union government, state body arrange the funds for the installation of the project.
While revealing the information, an official said that the beautification policy of Golden Temple has been extended to Jallianwala Bagh and project worth Rs 200 crores has been constructed.
