Hoshiarpur: Punjab Minister for Revenue Bikram Singh Majithia on Monday lashed out at Aam Admi Party (AAP) for its double standards and said such a party could never do anything good for the people of the state.
Majithia said that AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was making false promises with the people of Punjab. “While people in Delhi were bearing the brunt of electing a non-serious government, Kejriwal was promising moon to people in the election bound state of Punjab”, he said.
Talking to the media, Majithia said that Kejriwal has already shown his double standards on the serious issue of SYL Canal. He said that it was because of the ill-conceived policies of Kejriwal that people of repute like Anna Hazare, Prabhat Bhushan and the ex-AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chottepur were forced to leave the party. “Kejriwal systematically sidelined these people in the party. He was supporting wrong leaders and showing the door to those who dared to raise their voice in the party”, he said.
The Revenue minister also took a dig at the AAP leaders in Delhi facing serious charges and cases them. “The status of AAP was there before the country to see and people were fed up from them. All that the AAP was promising to people in Punjab was already delivered by the SAD-BJP government in its nine and half year rule”, he maintained.
Answering another query, Majithia said that congress graph was dipping sharply in Punjab and Capt Amarinder Singh was solely responsible for it. “Earlier Capt Amarinder was not accessible to his leaders and party men, now he was misleading them with ‘Halqe vich Capt’ programme”, he added.
Majithia said that while the congress leadership at the centre was responsible for its rout in the country, Capt Amarinder was also following in their footsteps to bring an end of congress in Punjab”, he added. He said that the congress was resorting to divisive tactics in the Vidhan Sabha too and indulged in scuffles.
Further, without naming ‘Awaz-E-Punjab’, Majithia said that whenever elections are announced, many third-fourth fronts start mushrooming in the state. “Such politicians work to fulfill their political ambition and form small fronts but the wise people of Punjab would not fall in the trap of such fronts. SAD-BJP was all set to come to power for record third time in a row on its development agenda”, he added.
Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia came to the defence of SAD leader Virsa Singh Valtoha in the shoegate incident which took place in the Vidhan Sabha recently and said, “He (Valhota) did not utter any wrong words but the congress leaders known for divisive politics ended up creating commotion in the house.”
