Ludhiana: Ahbaab Singh Grewal, General Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party, Kisan and Labour Wing and AAP MLA candidate from Ludhiana West along with area residents of Gurdev Nagar ward number 56 and party volunteers syaged protest at Municipal Corporation ZONE-D Office on Wednesday.
They organised the protest against lack of sanitation faculties in the area today. The demonstrators showing their anger raised slogans against Punjab Government and Municipal authorities. Ahbaab Grewal said that residents of posh locality Gurdev Nagar are facing problems of faulty sewage, which floods their houses and some of them were compelled to use toilets at the houses of their relatives in other localities. He said that the residents had been raising their voice at various levels and submitted many representations to the municipal authorities, which had fallen on deaf ears and now they have been forced to launch an agitation.
Grewal warned that in case the Municipal Corporation failed to solve the problem then stronger steps will be taken to pressurise the authorities, who were charging the sewerage tax without providing proper facility. Later, a deputation lead by Grewal met Additional Commissioner Amrit Gill and apprised her about the seriousness of problem.
He said that Gill assured them that the work to redress the problem will definitely be started by the end of this month after completing the required procedural formalities. The prominent who participated in protest included Darshan Singh Shankar, Member State Media Team, Gurjit Singh Gill Zone Co-ordinator Kissan Wing, Varinder Jassian, Shailender Singh Barewal zonal vice president Youth Wing, Jagdev Kaler and Manpreet Jassian.
