Kapurthala: There has been no response from Kapurthala Civil Administration or Police Administration on Tuesday after ADC Iqbal Singh Sandhu dropped his letter bomb a day before. Sandhu had accused the newly-appointed SP Phagwara Jasvir Singh Roy and DSP Manpreet Singh of having broken locks of his room on August 2. Sandhu also alleged that a meeting file was missing from his room after that. In his second letter addressed to the DC and SSP Kapurthala, he wrote that senior police officers broke the locks in the presence of some ‘culprits’ booked under non-bailable offences.
On Tuesday, Kapurthala administration had nothing to answer to the media’s queries about the possible action. Both Civil and Police administration tried to evade a direct reply to media questions on the
“I haven’t received the letter yet and so better I don’t say anything on this matter,” was the reply from Kapurthala SSP Rajinder Singh.
Deputy Commissioner Jaskaran Singh said, “I was out of town and was unable to read both the letter and the ADC’s report. I will read them tomorrow and only then I can tell you about any possible action.”
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leaders held a press conference on Tuesday in Phagwara and criticised ADC Sandhu. The leaders warned the administration of dire consequences if they continue to act like this. The leaders were furious at the ADC for calling them ‘culprits.’ According to Indian laws, no one can be called a culprit till he is punished. The word used for anyone booked is ‘accused.’
“Sandhu has some hidden agenda against us. How can he call us culprits? Have we been awarded punishment in any case? This officer is trying to disrupt the recently-established peace in Phagwara. We warn him to not to fuel the fire,” Shiv Sena state spokesperson Vipan Sharma said.
