Amritsar: Recalling the good deeds of Mother Teresa, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Mother Teresa had come to India and had extended her helping hands to the underprivileged and needy people of the country.
Sukhbir said that Mother Teresa’s service to humanity is a source of inspiration for all. He said that the state level function had been organised by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and entire Cabinet to celebrate the Sainthood awarded to Mother Teresa by Pope Francis. Sukhbir said that and it was matter of proud for Punjabis that Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal was part of delegation to Mother Teresa’s canonization at the Vatican. Deputy Chief Minister also announced to name the road from Amritsar to Rajasansi airport after the name of Mother Teresa.
Meanwhile, replying to media queries, Revenue and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that Punjabis were always ready to face any hard time or situation. Majithia said that he had visited the villages of border area and witnessed that people there were in high spirits to face any challenge.
Earlier addressing the state level function organised to celebrate the Sainthood awarded to Mother Teresa by Pope Francis, Majithia said that September 4 was a remarkable day for those who believe in humanity as on this very day Pope Francis declared Sainthood for Teresa during a ceremony at the Vatican in front of tens of thousands of people and added that this is a matter of proud not only for Christian community but for all Indians.
