Patiala: The Shiromani Akali Dal led by its local leadership on Saturday ‘ghearoed’ residence of Punjab Congress Chief, Capt Amarinder Singh’s ‘New Moti Bagh Palace’ to protest against his stand in favour of 1984 anti- Sikh violence accused Sajjan Kumar and other Congress leaders.
A mammoth protest rally was also held near the Polo ground under the leadership of the district rural president Randhir Singh Rakhra and urban president, Surjit Singh Kohli was attended by thousands of SAD-BJP leaders.
Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra MP and General Secretary SAD, Cabinet Minister, Surjit Singh Rakhra, SAD Treasurer and MLA, Narinder Kumar Sharma, Vaninder Kaur Loomba, Harpreet Kaur Mukhmailpur, Farzana Alam, Iqbal Singh Jhunda, Malwa Zone 2 President, Harpal Juneja, Randhir Singh Rakhra, Chairman Nardev Singh Aakri, Chairman Surjit Singh Ablowal among many others prominent leaders were present.
Prof Chandumajra, Surjit Singh Rakhra and N K Sharma said that by giving a clean chit to Sajjan Kumar and other accused Capt Amarinder Singh has rubbed salt on the wounds of the Sikhs. They said that the PPCC Chief had enacted a drama to quit Congress party in 1984. Instead since then he is fully active to protect the interests of Gandhi family which is accused of instigating the mob who burnt alive the Sikhs in the national capital and other cities. They said that Capt Amarinder Singh never uttered a word in favour of the victims of this genocide and is always ready to give clean chit to the accused of this
After the dharna these leaders walked upto ‘ New Moti Bagh Palace’ and gheroed the residence of former CM.
