Ludhiana: Indian international basketball player Amjyot Singh Gill who was got his name in The ‘D League’ or ‘Development League’ is a key stepping stone towards NBA league some days before and now he has cleared all the obstacles and got selected for the FIBA 3X3 League which is going to be held at Abu Dhabi on November 27, 2016 of this month. Singh was also awarded with the title of best Asian basketball players by concerned authority.
6 feet 9 inch Gill made the entire Indian sports fraternity take notice when he slammed home a powerful two handed alley-oop dunk during Indias’ historic win over China in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup. Since then, the 24-year-old “Sultan of Swat” has grown from strength to strength.
The FIBA 3×3 World Tour Finals is a hugely prestigious event and is the equivalent of a World Cup for 3×3 basketballs for professional players.
The team comprises 2 other Indian-origin players name Inderbir Singh Gill (USA) and Bikramjit Gill (Canada) apart from a fourth from Japan which give performance during championship.
When we contacted Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary Basketball Association, Ludhiana, regarding this he said that I personally feel very proud for his achievements as he is selected for the matches of FIBA 3×3 leagues. He is very hard working boy and has set an example for others those practicing under Ludhiana Basket Ball Association. He developed his skills at highest level of all parameter as he has also got selected for the league match that is very prestigious league in the world of Basket Ball.
While speaking to Daily Post, Amjyot Singh said that, Playing 5 on 5 (in Japan) was a very good experience as it was my first professional league. Playing in 3 on 3 was a whole new game for me which I am going to play but because of my partners as they modified my game and helped me a lot to do what I am doing now.
