Ludhiana: Local railway passengers are expected to get one new Shatabdi Express from Ludhiana railway station to Delhi with stoppage in the old Sabzi Mandi of Delhi. On the demand of city industrialists, by the end of September and before the start of the festival season the train would be expectedly there for the passengers.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ferozepur Division, Anuj Parkash said that railway authorities are trying their best to start New Shatabdi Express before festival season, so that maximum passengers could be accommodated during the heavy rush at the Ludhiana railway station where thousands of passengers travel each day.
He further said that they are just adjusting the time of the New Shatabdi Express as Ludhiana-Delhi tracks are the busiest one to run the trains on the route. It’s a long pending demand of the passengers as maximum numbers of people prefer to come down from Shatabdi in old Sabzi Mandi of Delhi. But due to the lack of its stoppage there, the passengers again have to go back by local train, bus, metro, or by taxi there, which wastes a lot of time.
Meanwhile, Ludhiana to New Delhi Shatabdi Express has started halting at Jind in Haryana due to which the passengers on the specific route are feeling happy over this development. It will halt there on all seven days of the week.
“Earlier we were not able to travel through Shatabdi, now we are happy that train would have its stoppage at Sabzi Mandi, which would make our journey easier as my son lives near the old Sabzi Mandi only in Delhi.”, said Ankita Jain, a passenger who she is an employee of the nationalised bank.
The other passengers also appreciated the decision of the Railways for the new stoppages as most of the people do not go by Shatabdi just due to the lack of stoppages, which will be there after launch of the new train. Now, more passengers would board the Shatabdi Express.
