Ludhiana: Close kith and accomplices of gangster Lovely Lamba forced to close the shops near Clock Tower after the arrest of Lamba hereon Sunday. However, accomplices have also done open fire.
Panic gripped the area near Clock Tower and Lottery market and traffic was also jammed at that area for an hour.
A case under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 382 (Theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft), 506 (criminal intimidation), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence commit¬ted in prosecution of common object) of IPC was registered against them.
They also vandalised shops, vehicle and blocked the traffic at Clock Tower chowk. The police cane charged to disperse the accused.
Tension prevailed in the area.Heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
Lovely Lamba along with his accomplices including Jajji, Mahinder Singh Fauji, Sunil Kumar and five others who are yet to be identified, were booked by Division number 4 police for illegal restraint, assault and snatching on Saturday following the complaint of Manish Kumar of New Valmiki Nagar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, Investigation) Bhupinder Singh said the police will take action against the accused involved in traffic jam and vandalising. He added that the police will not tolerate if anyone will try to disturb the law and order situation in the city.
