Amritsar: Through a letter, the president of Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhar Committee (SGPC), Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar, has urged the union transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, to ensure a suitable and proper way upto the main entrance of gurdwara Bahadurgarh in district Patiala. The SGPC chief has maintained that the main highway from Patiala to Chandigarh is being widened in order to make it four-laning. Under its construction, a flyover is also coming up at Bahadurgarh town on the main road and following its construction, the way leading to gurdwara Sri Guru Teg Bahadur of Bahadurgarh has been closed.
Prod Badungar stated that though it is a good step that a flyover is coming up at town Bahadurgarh upon the main Patiala-Chandigarh road, which will ease out the flow of traffic upon this road. However, with its construction, the main entrance of the gurdwara from this main road had been closed down, thus causing a great obstacle to thousands of pilgrims who have to visit gurdrawa to obeisance their daily. In addition, many pilgrims also had to stay in this gurdwara for night as they come from remote areas to visit gurdwara. “With the closing of the main gate of gurdwara, the pilgrims are unable to get entry into gurdwara, built in the memory of 9th sikh guru, Guru Teg Bahadur. Hence, it is urged that a proper and suitable main entrance from the Patiala-Chandigarh road is made available to the gurdwara, in order to facilitate thousands of pilgrims, who have to come here to pay their obeisance every day”, said the SGPC president in his letter, addressed to the union transport minister.
