Ludhiana :Following the complaint of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)- Bhartiya janta Party (BJP) alliance Hira Singh Gabria, the returning officer has issued notice of Lok Insaaf Party candidate Balwinder Singh Bains for violating Model Code of Conduct by removing the hoardings of Akali Dal candidate.
The returning officer has also urged Police commissioner to investigate the matter and identify the persons from CCTV footage and take action accordingly.
Hira Singh Gabria has lodged a complaint with Election Commission and Police accusing Bains supporters for removing his hoardings and posters during midnight. CCTV footage was also handed over along with the copy of Complaint. The footage shows that Ajaypreet Singh, son of Simarjeet Singh Bains along with dozen of supporters in six cars were damaging and removing the hoardings of Akali Dal candidate.
The CCTV footage also showed some persons with covered faces and removing the hoardings. Later, all the persons led by Ajaypreet Bains left the place in cars with stickers of Bains brothers. The CCTV footage also went viral on social networking sites.
Talking to Daily Post, Hira Singh Gabria said that from last one week Bains supporters were removing his hoardings and now they were caught in CCTV cameras. I have written to Police and Election commission for the necessary action.
Gabria said that Bains were ignored by the residents and in the fear of his defeat he is removing his hoardings in frustration.
When contacted, returning officer (RO) of Ludhiana South Satwant Singh said that he has issued notice to Bains and sought reply within 48 hours. He has also written to police commissioner to investigate and identify the persons from CCTV footage. Action would be taken accordingly, added Satwant Singh.
