Ludhiana: Ludhianites willing to buy second hand cars are trying to benefit out of the present situation prevailing in Delhi. In view of ban imposed on diesel-run more than 10 years old vehicles by the Delhi government, city residents are coming forward in large numbers to buy these cars at cheaper rates. City-based car dealers told that large numbers of buyers were asking for buying diesel-run cars from Delhi due to its cheaper prices.
Sources in District Transport Officer, Ludhiana revealed that there was increase in numbers of files for getting change in registration numbers process. Harman Khangura, one of the car dealers said, “Due to cheaper rates of second hand diesel cars in Delhi, we prefer to buy cars from there. Moreover, people are getting aware regarding this development through online commercial sites.” Jagjot Singh one of the car lover said, “I have purchased one of the diesel cars from Delhi at cheaper rate.
I won’t able to buy this car at Ludhiana rates but due to ban at Delhi I am having that particular car”. Meanwhile, one of the environmentalists on requesting anonymity said, “Punjab government should think over this issue as increase in 10-year-old diesel-run vehicles would increase air-pollution.” Some of the car dealers also claimed that due to this issue the rates of diesel cars in the city have come down. Enquiries conducted by Daily Post reveal that what to talk of “outdated diesel-run cars” even there are local buyers for school vans from Delhi.
Harneek Singh, a resident of South City said, “Many of the people are buying 10 years old diesel-run vans from Delhi for using as school van. I request the authorities to take this issue seriously for ensuring safety of schoolchildren.” District Transport Officer, Dalwinderjit Singh said, “I have not noticed this thing as regular files are coming regarding change of registration numbers at office”.
