Jalandhar: Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader HS Phoolka on Saturday said that BJP government at the centre was trying to support congress in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, so as to stop Aam Admi Party (AAP) from gaining momentum in the poll bound state of Punjab.
Phoolka said that while Congress is shielding prime accused of 1984 anti-Sikh riots Sajjan Kumar through their lawyer Salman Khurshid, BJP is saving Congress, as it knew that SAD-BJP’s alliance was a sinking ship now.
Addressing a press conference, the senior lawyer said that the deliberate delay by CBI in investigating the 1984 pogrom proved that it was working to ‘shield’ congress in Punjab.
“The BJP government headed CBI has got evidences against Sajjan Kumar and other accused but eyeing the Assembly Elections 2017, nothing was done. The BJP leadership knew it very well that if Sajjan Kumar was convicted before the assembly election, Congress will lose the game in Punjab”, he added.
Phoolka also said that after the cancellation of CBI’s clean chit to Jagdish Tytler in the year 2015, the court asked CBI to submit fresh investigation report in the court to start hearing. “Now, CBI again sought time till February 16, which clearly showed that the BJP government wanted to wind up the Assembly Election in Punjab which is due in February.
The idea is to help Congress and stop AAP in Punjab”, he said. AAP leader HS Phoolka said that all three political parties namely SAD, BJP and the Congress have made Capt Amarinder Singh as the joint CM candidate. “All three parties are fearing AAP’s growing clout in Punjab”, he said.
