Ludhiana: While giving a gift to the children of Blind School, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat inaugurated “E-Toilets” unit. This is the first such unit anywhere in the state that has been constructed with a cost of Rs 6 lakh. This unit has been constructed with a motive to check the problem which the special children faced while using the toilets.
On this occasion, ADC (D) Apneet Riyait, Navdeep Sharma and Vivek Nayar from Oswal group, Deputy Accounts Advisor Charanjit Singh, Executive Engineer Jaswinder Singh Chahal, School Principal and children were present in large numbers. While speaking to media persons after inaugurating “e-toilets”, Bhagat stated that during a visit to the school around two months back, it had come to his notice that the school children had to face several difficulties in using normal toilets. So that is why, “e-toilets” on the pattern of South India, Delhi and Mumbai have been set up. He said that the installation work has been completed after one and half month of civil work.
Bhagat informed that these e-toilets are environment friendly. He said that the water used in them can be reused and even there is no foul smell after use. And these e-toilets can be shifted to some other place also easily, besides they would get cleaned automatically. This is first of its kind toilet in the state and soon, more such toilets would be set up in other parts of the district as well.While addressing the students, Bhagat said that he is emotionally connected with this school and that is why he always makes sure that the school gets all facilities on priority basis. He said that the district administration would continue its efforts for betterment of this school. It is also pertinent to mention that the Punjab government has upgraded this school from class 10th to 12th and process has been initiated for construction of necessary buildings and recruitment of staff. The Oswal Foundation of Nahar Group of Companies had recently provided a grant of Rs 1 crore for the construction of building.
