Ludhiana: The British Deputy High Commissioner along with delegation from Nottingham City Council (NCC) visited the D zone office of Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana on Tuesday.
Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria and Additional Municipal Commissioner Surabhi Malik welcomed the delegates and conducted discussion with them. The delegates had come to give presentation about the available services which they can provide to Ludhiana MC for developing it in a smart city.
The British Deputy High Commissioner David Lelliott, Energy and Low Carbon Growth Advisor Javaid Malla, Director of Economic Development NCC Chris Henning and director Expatriate Advisory Services PLC Professor Hardev Singh had come for the meeting.
In the beginning, Surabhi Mailk gave brief information to the delegates about the smart city project and the formation of a board where experts from various fields have been made the directors. They were also given introduction of the projects which have been included in the smart city project and the kind of challenges they have to face in completing the projects.
Chris Henning, Director of Economic Development NCC then gave a brief presentation about Nottingham city. He told the present ones that Nottingham is known as bicycle capital and they are expert in providing smart transportation. They offered MCL services like solid waste management and energy production etc.
Gohalwaria said, “We can develop long term relationship with Nottingham not only in smart city project but otherwise also and we would look forward for the same.” He told that they would consider their services after discussing it with all the members of board of Ludhiana Smart City Limited.

MC COMMISSIONER SPEAKS
Meanwhile, MC Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said, “The next meeting of all BoDs of Ludhiana Smart City Limited is likely to take place very shortly where we would like to put all these proposals so as to take any decision.”
