Jalandhar: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday lashed out at Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for lying about his role in approving the construction of SYL saying he was a habitual liar.
He reiterated his challenge to the CM to swear before the Akal Takht that he as the-then Chief Minister had not cleared the file regarding the acquisition of land for the SYL in 1978.
Reacting to Badal’s outright denial about having signed the file clearing land acquisition for SYL in Punjab, Capt Amarinder said, the facts and records cannot lie. “It is very much part of history and record that he signed the file”, he asserted, adding that Badal is a habitual liar and he was trying to hide his faults with his lies.
“Even his party’s general secretary Prem Singh Chandumajra admitted it publicly that Badal had signed the file and it was an ‘innocent mistake’ committed by him (Badal)”, he said, while pointing out that neither Badal nor his party could they deny it since they cannot undo the history and wipe out the records.
Reacting to Badal’s statement made at Adampur on Thursday that getting Chandigarh to Punjab was like bringing alive a dead man, Capt Amarinder said, it was unbecoming of a Chief Minister to speak like that.
