Patiala: Two persons, residents of Samana area had a miraculous escape on Saturday when they were abducted from a road side Dhabha near Samana by some persons, who came in four cars, and later beat them up and left them near a police station and then fled from the spot.
Police reached the spot and took them to the Civil Hospital at Samana. One of the injured, Harwinder Singh, son of Gurmail Singh of the Nizamaniwala village, told the cops that the two of them were accompanied by two of their friends and were travelling in their car when some assailants, in four cars, stopped them near the Adalti Complex.
He further added that during the assault two of their friends ran away whereas they were abducted by the miscreants took him and another of his friend Jagjit Singh, in their car and they took them to a rest house near Namadaan village where they beat them up with sticks and rods. He said that after assaulting him and his friend left them near a police station at Samana. On contacting in-charge of the Gajewas Police Post, Sub Inspector Narpinder Singh said that after getting the inputs regarding the incident, police have started an investigation in the case and said the assailants will be behind bars soon.
Those who belong to Samana blamed the liquor mafia as in the past also they were involved in similar types of assaults in this area and some of them are facing cases in the courts. Since the cops did not register a case in this connection, nothing is clear yet.
