Ludhiana: Due to the lack of currency in the cash with the city people, not only markets are giving a deserted looks on the shops other then essential commodities shops in the city, but old city theatres are also giving a deserted look in the Ludhiana for three days. As the recently released movie has no viewer mainly due to lack of cash with the people in the maximum parts of the country. The only viewers are at multiplex.
People are just going to the shops where they have to take essential things such as the grocery items and medicines as they can wait for accessories like footwear’s, clothes and many other things. But I the entertainment industry like theatres have also faced the heavy losses mainly old theatres. As in multiplexes people can do online booking but can swipe debit and card but in old theatres one gets ticket by giving cash only. Infact parking owners in front of many multiplexes rues, “The decision of the Modi has affected out business a lot as no one is visiting the malls these days as people don’t have cash with them. They are busy in banks and they are avoiding spending cash with them at the places of leisure at present in city.”
Meanwhile, the footwear shopkeeper of Blue parrot at Ghumar Mandi and Aarti theatre employee at ticket window said, “We think our industry is going to suffer for a long time in days to come. As soon people will get small amount of money would rush to take the grocery items, medicines, EMI’s in the banks and clothes as Modi has put up they put a limit on the withdrawal of cash amount. After that they would move towards taking other things and entertainment industry.” Infact the poor vendors who sell ballons and other things are also not getting any buyers as people don’t want to spend their small currency notes and they don’t have change to give for the bigger notes which people offer them to exchange the industry.
Last but not the least beggars are also having a tuff time due to lack of cash money with people mainly in the small currency. So whatever small currency notes and coins people are having they don’t want to give to anyone due to which beggars are also facing the heat of the demonetization of 500 and 1000 currency notes in India.
“No one gives us even single coin these days and we are literally sleeping without food these days. Hardly anyone give us money. Infact someone said me do u have five hundred change”, said an old age beggar outside Ansal Plaza while begging.
