LUDHIANA: Up-gradation in Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) electricity bill depositor machines is creating different problems among the power consumers and the employees. Most of the employees are not having the proper training of handling the new machines.
During a visit to Kitchlu Nagar PSPCL office, new machine was installed in the office where power consumers were standing in queue for deposit of electricity bills. Most of the power consumers claimed that machines got off when power was shut down and power consumers suffered from several problems. One of the power consumer Bimla Rani said, “My cash was stuck in the machine when I was about to deposit the cash but suddenly power got shut down.
Due to this problem, I had to suffer from many problems. Moreover, employees at the station are not so frequent users of the machine.”
However, employees on requesting anonymity claimed that department have issued different machines to different sub stations but employees are not frequent in using the machines due to which power consumers have to suffer from different problems.
One of the city resident claimed that PSPCL authorities are doing good for up grading the infrastructure of different substation but basic knowledge should be provided to the employees so that power consumers should not suffer from any problem. Despite repeated attempts, the concerned area executive officer and engineer in chief was not available for comments.
