LudhianA:Four cases have been reported under different police stations regarding the theft of installed CCTV under Safe City Project. Safe city project of Ludhiana police seems to be suffering major setback as the cameras installed for the project are being targeted by thieves.
It is worth mentioning that the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has inaugurated Safe City Project on November 12. A total of 1442 CCTVs were being installed at different locations in Ludhiana under the project.
First case was registered under Shimlapuri police station where HFCL Company has shot an email regarding the theft of installed CCTV and box from main location of Shimlapuri area which falls under Zone-1. Shimlapuri police have registered the case under 379 against unidentified person.
Another case was registered by Daresi police station. HFCL Company shot an email to police regarding the theft of installed CCTV cameras at Sundar Nagar. Police have registered the case under section 379 against unidentified person.
CCTV cameras were installed at city entrance and other areas, Bhai wala Chowk, Bharat Nagar Chowk, Jagroan Bridge, Samarala Chowk, Hambran road, Basti Jodewal, Chandigarh road and other sensitive areas in the city.
Police department had installed few CCTVs at few locations several years back but all of them are in a non-functional condition. Department concerned should install these cameras at different places and headquarters must have all the recordings of the cameras.
However, many theft incidents of installed CCTV were reported in past months under safe city project. Police should inspect the matter properly so that thieves would catch as soon as possible.
Another incident happened in Bharat Nagar Chowk and another near Convent School at Sarabha Nagar. However, four cases have been registered as case has been registered under section 379 of IPC.
