Mohali: A hospital running under the tag of “charitable hospital” has harassed a kidney patient by refusing him dialysis. Shri Guru Harkirshan Charitable Hospital, Sohana is under scanner for why it said no to patient whose kidneys failed in 2008.
Harassed victim has complaint to SSP Mohali over this issue. Victim Jagmohan Singh Sarao, rResident of Akal Ashram Colony, sector-77 said that since 2008 he is undergoing dialysis at this hospital twice a week.
Ironically, this is the only hospital in surrounding three districts empanelled with Punjab Government under Bhai Ghanaiya scheme. According to Sarao, he recently complained to hospital authorities over cleanliness and hygiene related issues. Soon after the complaint behavior of hospital authorities changed towards him.
Sarao stated that on August 27, he went to hospital but was stopped by security men near lift who told him that his name does not figure in the list of patients for dialysis. When Sarao contacted dialysis unit incharge and told him that management has decided against doing his dialysis further.”
After being refused treatment Sarao called medical helpline number and lodged a complaint SAS-455949. “As PCR was called on the spot, police officials too behaved rudely with me,” added Sarao. After much tussle hospital management finally agreed to perform dialysis.
Similarly on August 31 hospital again refused to perform dialysis on Sarao. In the evening hospital authorities called the police and sent patient back to his home with performing dialysis. When DP correspondent contacted Gurmeet Singh, trustee Sohana Hospital, Adarsh Suri Administrative officer and Dr Ishwarpreet Singh on their phones none of them answered the calls or reverted to messages.
