Ludhiana: The magistrate-level checking was carried out at the Ludhiana railway station in trains on Monday. This drive would continue till weekend.
During this drive, around 70 passengers were caught for committing various offences at the railway station. The accused were apprehended and sent to jail. They would be produced in the Court.
The passengers sitting at platforms were also checked by the team of the train ticket examiners (TTEs) with RPF and GRP officials. RPF and GRP carried out checks on regular basis but special checking was carried out at Ludhiana railway station.
RPF and GRP are making passengers, vendors and stall owners aware about the fact that if they found the isolated luggage or suspected person, they should immediately inform cops for the safety of the passengers.
They further said that security has been beefed up at the railway station in order to provide safe journey to commuters from the local station due to the ongoing festival season.
