Ludhiana:Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana organised a function for distribution of employable skills certificates at CICU Head Office, Gill Road, Ludhiana.
Vijay Kumar, Director, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises-DI was the chief guest and distributed the certificates to more than 100 successful candidates, who had recently completed different vocational training programmes in retail sale and marketing (sales associate), automotive sector (customer relationship executive and showroom host/hostess) under Prime Minister Koshal Vikas Yojana by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Banking and Accounts Course under Learn and Earn Scheme by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. The skilled manpower in these areas is highly demanded in the respective sectors.
CICU is running a Skill Development Centre since 2012 for unemployed and underemployed school and college pass out and drop out candidates for providing an access for Skill Development Trainings in short term (1-3 months) and flexi hour’s courses, improving their employability and making them available for proper jobs in industry and trade sectors of Punjab.
These courses are run under different government schemes such as learn and earn under Ministry of Minority Affairs, Prime Minister Koshal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) and Skill India Programmes for re-enforcement of other National Programmes such as Make-in-India and Zero Defect and Zero Effect etc.
Avtar Singh, President and Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary, CICU said that in the present scenario skill trainings are very important for the up-gradation of productivity, quality, cost reduction and improvement of environment and making our industry competitive at National and International levels for sustainable growth.
