Ludhiana: Due to the protest at the railway tracks by interrupting the train traffic at Ludhiana railway station by the family of the deceased who drowned in Sutlej River on Sunday created great inconvenience to the passengers.
A large number of trains were running way behind their schedules due to the protesters’ blockade the tracks. Number of people left the train and adopted other ways of the transportation to reach their respective destinations as they were being harassed due to the blockade.
The passengers were seen waiting for the trains at Ludhiana railway station but due to the stopping of the train by the protesters, trains were halted at the Ludhiana railway station. The trains were stopped at various locations across the district due to which whole rail traffic was disrupted at the railway station. The other trains too had to face diversion of route by the Railways that also caused inconvenience to the people.
The trains are running 10-12 hours late from scheduled timing such as Dadar Express, Golden Mail, Chhattisgarh, Jammu Mail, Duronto, Jammu Tavi, Jalandhar-NDLS, ASR-NDLS, Howrah Mail, Jan Shatabdi Express, Superfast and few others were running from 3-4 hours late from their scheduled time and many other trains which cross and stop at the Ludhiana railway station. Even, Amritsar -Ludhiana-New Delhi Shatabdi Express train was running around the seven hour late, which left passengers high and dry. Number of passengers went back to their home and came back again at the Ludhiana railway station.
Chetan Sharma, a passenger said, “I have to catch Pune flight from New Delhi further, but I have got late at Ludhiana railway station. Now, I am taking a taxi from the Ludhiana railway station.”
“My brother has got heart attack in New-Delhi and is hospitalised, but I am stuck in protest. Now I have no other option than to hire private taxi to go”, said passenger, Raman Sinha who was waiting for the Shatabdi Express train at Ludhiana railway station on Monday.
