Ludhiana: As Ganesh Chaturthi is on Monday (September 5), the city residents are all done with preparations to welcome Ganpati with great enthusiasm. The festival is celebrated is with great fervour in Maharashtra but now the city residents too are becoming aware of it and are towards the grand celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi in high spirits.
The festival witnessed great enthusiasm in the devotees and now it had taken a great change in terms of innovations in its preparation of sweets, decorations, clothing for Ganpati and many more things. The creative minds are coming up with their creativity in designing the things especially for this occasion. The artisans of the city are too busy in making the idols with different hues and shapes.
Kashish Gupta, a city resident who she brings Ganpati to her place said, “This is for the third time that we are welcoming Ganpati at our home and we celebrate this festival with all rituals. We start preparing for this festival one month prior and take care of everything that the prayers and the holy communion(prasad) is properly served to those who come for Ganpati darshan.”
Ram Gopal, an artisan said, “This time we had a great demand of Ganpati idols. The range of idol starts from Rs.1,000 and rest depends upon the size of the idol. Different styles of Ganpati have been made. Special eco-friendly Ganpati is in great demand as it will not harm our environment.” Raja Garg said, “Likewise, every year we celebrate this festival but this time our kids have planned something different as they will be bringing eco-friendly Ganpati and they will prepare the sweets specially Modaks (ladoos) at home.” A sweet shop owner at Model Town said, “This time with the increase in trend of celebrating this festival we are preparing the modaks in different styles as per the demands by the customers.”
Many societies in the city are also celebrating this festival at a large scale and few of them have also organised the Ganpati processions which will witness a big number of devotees from the city.
